Peak Health held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday (Oct. 17) to unveil new Peak Health, WVU Medicine, and WVU Medicine Children’s signage that was recently installed on the outside and inside of several buildings at Mylan Park in Morgantown.

Peak Health and WVU Medicine are pleased to announce a groundbreaking new partnership with Mylan Park, West Virginia’s premier recreation, sport, health, and wellness complex.

This fall, Medicare-eligible residents will have the opportunity to enroll in a plan that was specifically created to meet the needs of seniors in West Virginia. The plan has been designed in partnership with two of the state’s leading health systems, WVU Medicine and Marshall Health.

“Peak Health’s new office is a sign of our commitment to the state and is part of our efforts to build out our operations locally in West Virginia communities,” Ben Gerber, president of Peak Health, said. “This is Peak Health’s first community office location, and we have long-term plans to expand the community office concept in strategic locations across West Virginia.”

Years ago, Highmark bolted a hospital network to its insurance operations and UPMC created a health insurer for its hospital system. In the process, the two Pittsburgh organizations became the vertically integrated powerhouses they are today, selling both health insurance and medical care.

“We’re excited and honored to have Valley Health, an outstanding health system, join as an owner and participant in Peak Health,” Albert L. Wright, Jr., Peak Health’s board chair and president and CEO of the WVU Health System, said. “Through collaboration with its health system owners, Peak Health can change the health trajectory of West Virginia and the surrounding region.”
